H2V - Holo Help Vision Suite

Improving Safety and Quality Through Mixed Reality

Project Background and Origins

In 2017, as part of its Industry 4.0 strategy to improve safety and productivity, Framatome partnered with HoloForge Interactive to design the first mixed reality application for operators working at the bottom of nuclear pools.

The goal: to optimize the preparation and monitoring of interventions in highly constrained environments, where precision, communication, and control of radiological exposure are essential.

This partnership led to the creation of the Holo Help Vision Suite (H2V), a modular ecosystem designed to support the entire intervention cycle—from planning to field execution, including training and remote supervision.

Since its launch, the H2V suite has continued to evolve to meet new operational needs: multi-user support, integration of Bluetooth sensors (dosimeters and radiometers), shared virtual space, secure remote audio/video connection, augmented reality radiation mapping, and import of a virtual documentation database.

Fonctionnalités clés et retombées concrètes

Deployed at numerous French nuclear sites and used in a variety of contexts, H2V has delivered tangible benefits in the field.

It reduces dosimetric exposure thanks to accurate 3D scanning of the radiological environment and dose rate. It shortens intervention times through better work coordination and accelerated site study analysis. It also helps reduce non-quality events by providing real-time assistance and immediate access to procedures or holographic diagrams.

The tool also improves overall safety and quality of maintenance operations by facilitating access to specialized training.

The entire system is designed according to Framatome’s strictest cybersecurity and IT infrastructure standards, ensuring controlled deployment even in sensitive environments.

Key Figures

- 30% reduction in dosimetric exposure

- 20% fewer non-quality events

- 10% reduction in operation time

H2V: 4 Complementary Modules

H2V Assist: provides a 3D mapping of the dosimetric environment in real time, enables audio/video communication between operators and supervisors, and offers an immersive training environment simulating radiological conditions.

H2V Echo: a post-processing and analysis tool that integrates data from H2V Assist or external sources, prepares 3D environments and point clouds, and exports models or reports for later use.

H2V View: a multi-format 3D viewer (CAD, PDF, photos, videos) allowing technical models to be explored, annotated, and manipulated, either alone or collaboratively, with tools such as cross-sections, part isolation, or precise measurement.

H2V Process: guides operators step by step through augmented reality procedures, ensuring compliant and safe execution, while also enabling training on specific tasks.

A question ?

Can the H2V Suite be used in sectors other than nuclear?

Yes. Although originally designed for nuclear environments, the H2V suite can be fully adapted to other high-risk or constrained domains such as petrochemicals, aircraft maintenance, defense, or critical infrastructure management. Its modules can be customized to integrate your procedures, sensors, and specific tools.

How does the H2V Suite ensure cybersecurity and compatibility with sensitive IT infrastructures?

The H2V Suite benefits from a complete cybersecurity assessment conducted by Framatome, including software and organizational safeguards validated for C1-level use at Framatome. The infrastructure is based on a C1-certified Azure PaaS environment managed by Framatome, with strict device control (Mobile Device Management), centralized user account management, and distribution via the Framatome Store.

For connectivity, H2V complies with the IN84 standard and, outside secured local networks, uses the PRAX solution validated by EDF’s COSIN. These measures ensure safe deployment, even in highly regulated environments.

Can we integrate our own data and documents into the application?

Absolutely. H2V is designed to integrate your internal documentation, 3D plans, diagrams, or procedures, as well as real-time sensor data. Common formats are supported, and we can develop custom connectors for your business tools, ensuring a smooth and secure flow of information between your systems and the application.
